In line with this vision, TJIS observed a week-long Social Science Week from the 8th to 13th of July 2024, where students across different grades engaged in various thought-provoking and insightful presentations. Each day of the week offered something new and exciting, from skits and role plays to mime shows and group dances. The week was a vibrant celebration of learning, with students exploring significant historical events, societal issues, and human emotions, all while showcasing their talents in art and performance.

Monday, 8th July 2024 – “Boxes of Emotions” Mime Show by Grade 7

The week kicked off with an extraordinary performance by Grade 7 students. They presented a captivating mime show titled “Boxes of Emotions,” exploring the complexity of human emotions in a silent yet expressive format. Through their graceful and well-coordinated actions, the students communicated various emotions such as joy, anger, sadness, and surprise. Their impressive use of body language and facial expressions left the audience mesmerized, showing that sometimes, words aren’t necessary to convey powerful messages. The mime show was a testament to the students’ creativity and their understanding of emotional depth.


Tuesday, 9th July 2024 – The Role of Social Media and “Earth Song” Dance by Grade 8

The second day of the Social Science Week brought a powerful skit by Grade 8 students on the role of social media in today’s world. Through this skit, the students delved into how social media influences our daily lives, both positively and negatively. They highlighted issues such as the spread of misinformation, the pressure to maintain online personas, and the platform’s potential for activism and awareness. The skit was thought-provoking and provided a well-rounded view of the role social media plays in shaping public opinion.

Following the skit, the Grade 8 students performed a scintillating group dance to the theme of Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song.” The dance was a tribute to environmental conservation, expressing the urgent need to protect our planet through soulful movements and coordinated choreography. The energy and passion in their performance reminded everyone of the ongoing fight to safeguard Earth’s natural resources.


Wednesday, 10th July 2024 – Fundamental Rights Role Play and G-20 Summit Speech by Grade 10

On Wednesday, Grade 10 students brought out a brilliant role play that focused on India’s fundamental rights as enshrined in the Constitution. The students depicted various scenarios where fundamental rights, such as freedom of speech, equality before the law, and the right to education, come into play in our daily lives. This role play was an educational and entertaining way to remind the audience of the rights and responsibilities of every Indian citizen.

The day also saw a remarkable speech on the G-20 Summit, where students discussed the importance of international cooperation for global economic stability. The speech emphasized India’s role in the G-20, highlighting its position as a growing global power with responsibilities towards fostering development, sustainability, and equality on the international stage. The students’ depth of knowledge and articulation impressed everyone, reflecting their grasp on current global affairs.


Thursday, 11th July 2024 – “Water Conservation” Mime Show by Grade 9

On Thursday, the spotlight was on Grade 9 students, who presented a mime show on the critical issue of water conservation. The mime vividly showcased the pressing need to preserve water resources and protect them from overuse and pollution. Through silent storytelling, the students illustrated the dire consequences of water scarcity and the impact it could have on humanity and ecosystems. Their performance was a poignant reminder of the responsibility we all share in conserving this precious resource for future generations.


Friday, 12th July 2024 – “My Body Parts” by Grade 2 and Jallianwala Bagh Massacre by Grade 6

The youngest participants of Social Science Week, the Grade 2 students, took to the stage on Friday to perform a playful and educational act titled “My Body Parts.” Through role-playing, the students taught the audience about the functions of different body parts in a fun and interactive way. Their enthusiasm and innocence stole the hearts of everyone in the room.

In contrast, the Grade 6 students took the audience on an emotional journey through their powerful depiction of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Their presentation was both inspiring and sobering, highlighting one of the darkest moments in India’s history. The students not only recounted the tragic events of 1919 but also paid tribute to the bravery of those who fought for India’s independence. The emotional depth and sensitivity displayed by the students were both heart-wrenching and admirable.


Saturday, 13th July 2024 – “The Solar System” by Grades 3, 4, and 5, and “My Family” by Grade 1

The final day of Social Science Week was a celebration of curiosity and family values. Students from Grades 3, 4, and 5 presented an exciting and educational exploration of “The Solar System.” Their presentation delved into the mysteries of space, with students explaining the planets, stars, and celestial bodies that make up our universe. The young learners did a fantastic job, sparking curiosity and wonder about the vastness of space.

Grade 1 students brought a heartwarming end to the week with a colorful pageantry titled “My Family.” Through their adorable costumes and performances, the students celebrated the love, unity, and support that families provide. One of the highlights of the day was Master Akshay from Grade 1, who wowed everyone with his impressive ability to name the capitals of all the states in India perfectly. His flawless performance earned him loud applause and admiration from both students and teachers.

Social Science Week at TJIS was a resounding success, filled with a variety of performances that highlighted not only the students’ academic knowledge but also their creativity and passion. From the emotional mime shows to the thought-provoking skits and inspiring speeches, each day of the week offered something unique and meaningful. Principal Mrs. S.
